The Current Election

In Friday's Chapel Service we had an awesome time of worship together! Led by Alumni Brandon Daniels the band and singers were under a special anointing. God has blessed our school with such talented students and teachers!

After worship we had a special presentation from Mr. Passalaqua's 11th grade American History class. They are studying the voting process so Mr. Pass set up a mock election. It was great! The students formed three parties over a four week period. They elected campaign managers and nominated candidates. They had primaries and campaigned throughout the school. They even made TV commercials!

In chapel we saw the commercials, heard from the candidates from all three parties (The Common Sense Party, The For The Students Party and The URCS Republic Party), and had a Question and Answer session with the moderator and our pre-k to 12th grade. Then it was time for the vote! The ballot boxes were passed and the students placed their vote into the box. There were a total of four boxes and we will count the votes each day starting on Monday. On Tuesday we will announce the current standings before we recite the pledges and pray. Each day we will update the school until the final announcement of the winner in next week's chapel service.

The elected President and Vice President will meet with a member of the administration monthly to discuss possible area's of improvement for the school and relevant student concerns. One of the officers will also attend each PTA meeting to be a voice for the student body as well as relating back to the students what wonderful things are being planned and done by the concerned parents and teachers of URCS for the betterment of our school and our students.

Our Lady Royal's Varsity Basketball Team won their home game on Thursday by 13 points! They had so much fun out there. The crowd was cheering and everyone had a great time. The girls currently have a record now of 1-1. Go Lady Royals!

The boys are ready to go and get their start this week. I can't wait to watch them play. Our coaches do such a great job with these boys and girls. Teaching the proper balance of competitiveness, sportsmanship and spirituality. We are also looking forward to watching our dynamic Cheerleaders as they inspire the team and the crowd and engage everyone in the game.

The parent/teacher conferences ended on Monday and the first quarter report cards are out. We look forward to the presentation of the Honor Roll and Student Leadership Council certificates this Friday in Chapel! All in all, another great week at Upper Room Christian School thanks to the Grace of God!
To God Be The Glory!
Ed
