Upper Room Christian School's Annual Christmas Show at the Carillion Nursing Home
Our select choir performed at the Carillion Nursing Home yesterday! Senior Nadia Prescott performed a spoken word about the true meaning of Christmas and the singers sang carols with the residents and day visitors.
This is an annual event for us now which we started 6 years ago. It gives Upper Room Christian School students the opportunity to share some joy during the holiday season with these wonderful people. It also creates a strong sense of Thanksgiving in the hearts of the students as they fellowship with people with challenges that can be very hard to overcome.
After the show we go around to each person and shake their hand and talk with them as they share their stories with us. Afterward it's off to Wendy's for some burgers and fries and the solidifying of memories we will never forget!

Community Service
Yesterday we took our band and choir to the Carillion Nursing Center in Huntington for our annual Christmas Concert. We have been going there for three years now. The students get a feel for how fortunate they are to be well and with their families during the holidays and they enjoy bringing smiles to those who are less fortunate.
We did a series of Christmas songs and ended with a medley of Christmas Carols that had most of the ambulatory residents up singing and dancing. In the spring we will be taking the group to a senior center in Nassau County for a Spring Concert.
Part of the education process must include teaching the students the value of what they already have and the importance of "giving back". Community service is an important component of the educational process here at Upper Room.
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
