Our New Web Site Is LIVE!!!!!!

Our web site went live today! After 5 months of planning, editing and re-editing our site is finally up and running! While there is still about 2 solid weeks of work yet to be done, the basic layout and information areas are done. The address is http://www.urcs.org/ . The site is designed to be informative. It features our vision/mission statement, our history, the school calendar, our enrollment policies and procedures and even an animated virtual tour! There are links to this blog, our parent church Upper Room Christian World Center, our ACN fundraiser as well as other useful links pertaining to Christian Education.

Our next major project is to get Grade Quick and Edline up and running and linked to this blog and the school's web page. That will complete the school's intranet as well as give our parents and student body immediate access to students current grades, projects and assignments. We hope to have this done by April 2009.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Below is a poem written by one of our 3rd graders:

Dear Jesus,

You are nice
just like spice.
I want you to know
how I love you so.
You are my friend and nothing can tear us apart.
I know that you made my heart.
I celebrate your birthday and so do others,
even our fathers and our mothers.
I love you for who you are,
and so do people from afar.
Thank you for giving me friends,
and your kingdom will never end.
You gave us a wonderful teacher,
and Mr. Dono a great preacher.
I know I'll be with you some day,
but soon will my aunt May.
I know your birthday is soon,
but mine's in June!
Happy Birthday!

Love,
Brianna

Mrs. Moore's English Trip

Many of my English students attended a theatrical production with me in November. We had a great time on the trip. The show was a lot of fun to watch and the kids were a lot of fun to be around!

The show was at the Patchogue Theater in Patchogue. The Chamber Commerce Theater Company was the performing company and some of the skits they presented were the following: The Most Dangerous Game, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Lady and the Tiger, and a few other classical short stories.

We truly had a great time and not to brag or anything but Upper Room Christian School's students were the best behaved, most well-mannered students there (by far). They are the best!

Middle School

The month of December is a cheerful month filled with joy, love and the spirit of giving. Our middle school is embracing this spirit with several planned charitable activities. They are writing letters to the soldiers in Iraq , creating cards for the Downey Side Families for Youth Orphanage and collecting supplies for homeless emergency kits.

Also, our entire middle school will be participating in a gingerbread contest on December 19th. The gingerbread houses will be made by the students completely from "scratch". Prizes will be awarded to the best constructed houses. The children will also be exchanging their "Secret Blesser" gifts on Dec. 19th our last day of school for the 2008 school year. As you can see the spirit of Christmas is alive and well here at Upper Room Christian School as we continue growing up in Christ spirit, soul and body.

The URCS Middle School Team

Looking In The Bible

"When I look in the Bible I see your face. Just smiling at me and saying I love you very much. When I read a verse I think about it and I know what you are trying to tell me and I know what you are talking about that is why I read the Bible."

Poetry From Our 4th Graders

Spelling and Grammar is left in it's uncorrected state.

Monday, November 10th : "Our God is so undiscrible. He is great to us even when we don't know it. Thinking about His love makes me want to become a better person."

Thursday, November 13th : " My life with God makes me stronger. Our realasionship keeps getting longer. He is my savior every day. In all different kinds of ways. When I am praising God I know He's real. When I'm writting poetry I express how I feel. He has made me a better person in my life. Now I know everything is alright."

Friday, November 14th : "The world is filled with hatred and love. But how can we know when to really trust? God tells me things and it's my problem if I ignore it. His solution to a conflict will always fit. Trying to forgive others is hard and tough. But I should forgive because God's love is always enough."

Monday, November 17th : When I go through trials in life I have to remember God. He can help me with anything that I need alot. For such a great and respectful personality His soul is. That He would die for us saints to live. I can't imagine life without Him."
Grace and peace,
Ed

End of the First Quarter

"I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught" Winston Churchill Nov. 4, 1952, House of Commons speech.

We have completed the first quarter of the 2008-2009 school year. May I add, very successfully. As we went through our daily routines and lesson plans, students were learning. Learning how to be the best they can be.

In the upcoming weeks I look forward to meeting parents at parent-teacher conferences on Monday, Nov. 17 as well as, Monday, Nov. 24th. We are also going on a field trip Nov. 21st to the Patchogue Theater to see a Theater Company act out several short stories that we have read in class. Very exciting!

School Year

The first month of school behind us and it seems to have past so quickly! The school is healthy and doing great. The moral of the students and staff is at an all time high as we all press to be the best we can be by the grace of Almighty God!

All of our new students have settled in, made friends and are enjoying their "new school". Our "seasoned" students have received and accepted their new classmates and once again the halls and classrooms of Upper Room are filled with the feeling of "family".

Our chapel services have been awesome! Last week senior Josh Nunziante preached and expounded on the need for us as Christians to infiltrate this world system for Christ and regain all that was lost through the fall of man. He exhorted us to "be who we are" and not to be conformed to this world but be transformed through the power of the application of God's word by faith. This was followed by individual prayer and a further exhortation by a fourth grader to give our all to Christ.

We are looking forward to the best year ever at our school as we pray God's kingdom come on earth even as it is in heaven! Amen.
Grace and Peace,
Ed

Kelli Moore's English Classes

With the beginning of the school year already behind us, I can say September was a complete success. My students have been "blasting through the lessons" with enthusiasm and with, quite honestly, good-ole'-fashioned drive to learn. I'm loving it. The best year yet!
I thank my students for being as awesome as they have been and the staff for "keeping the good times rolling." It's certainly a great introduction to what I plan on being a great year. "Rah-Rah!"

A Quote from Martin Luther

"I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not increasingly occupied with the Word of God must become corrupt...I am much afraid that schools will prove to be the great gates of hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, engraving them in the hearts of youth."

At Upper Room Christian School we start our day with the pledge to the Christian Flag, the pledge to the American Flag and the preamble to the Declaration of Independance. We also begin each day with corporate prayer. Each student receives Bible Instruction daily and we have a Chapel Service Friday afternoons.

Each subject is taught using the best textbooks possible (both Christian and Secular) taught by highly qualified Christian teachers within the context of the Word of God as the ultimate authority on any subject. The school is filled with love and you can sense the manifest presence of God.

To God Be the Glory,
Ed

Guiding Your Special Needs Child to Adulthood

This article was taken from the Fall/Winter 2006 edition of Healing Magazine.

It was written by: Ellen Notbohm and Patti Rawling-Anderson

Although "fortune-teller" is not one of the services provided in a typical IEP (Individualized Education Plan), you can know with certainty that medical science and education will only continue to grow during all the years of your child's development. Whatever the special needs may be, in no previous generation has there been a better time for optimism.

Preparing a child for adulthood begins long, long before job skills training or learning to balance a checkbook or navigate a grocery store. The good/bad news is there is no recipe, no how-to mannual that will have all the answers for your unique child. But the seeds of preparation lie in just that - the special abilities, strengths, interests and motivations that every child has, regardless of ability. The most important brick in your child's road to adulthood is recognizing those special components and using them to develop your parent-child relationship in a way that gives him both roots and wings. Roots - knowing that she belongs, is connected to others, is valued and capable and needed. Wings - knowing that she has the inner resources to learn and do and, with practice, succeed.

Clearly, finding the fine line, the "just right" amount of challenge for your child, can be tricky. If you set the expectation too high, the child feels defeated before even starting. Why try? he thinks. If we set the expectation too low, we promote laziness and dependency.

The most important thing a parent can do is help his child laugh, play and build relationships with all of the people in their lives. That's more important than therapy, more important than speech and language and more important than cognition. When a child feels connected, he has the internal motivation he needs to do all those other things.

Never forget that a parent's attitude toward the child is going to be that childs's attitude toward himself. If helping create a sound-emotional sense of self is not the primary focus of what you are providing to your child, no amount of "therapy" or "education" you layer on top is going to matter. See her and celebrate her as the capable, interesting, productive and valuable adult you have every reason to believe she can be. And hold that vision, because, through your eyes, she sees it too. Seeing is believing, and believing makes it happen.

Upper Room Christian School has the largest special education department of any Christian School on Long Island. Ten percent of our total population have IEP's and are serviced on location through the Half Hollow Hills School District. We are committed to providing a loving Christian environment whenever possible for any student regardless of their special needs.

What the Bible Says About Education

The parent is the God-appointed leader and teacher of a child. This should come as no surprise to anyone, including a non-Christian. The task of raising a child is in the hands of the parents.
Ps. 127:3: "Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him."
Eph. 6:4: "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

But teach them what? What or who is the most important thing or person for the child to know? The answer is, "God is the most important person for a child to know." The goal of Christian parents is for their child to know God in a personal way and to know all about God. Nothing could be more important!

God says that the education of children and youth is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week process that must take place from birth through maturity. Note the Deuteronomy passage below and the context. God is instructing His people how to live as they prepare to go into the Promised Land. Critical to the life and health of His people is the teaching of the Word of God by parents on a daily basis in every situation.
Deut. 11:18-21: "Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth."
Proverbs 22:6: "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
As you can see, the education of children and youth must be based on God’s Word as absolute truth.
Matthew 24:35: "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."
Psalm 119:89: "Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens."

Give your child the gift of a Christian Education.

Matthew 7:24-25: “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Christ-Centered Education

Christian schooling is rooted in a Christian philosophy of education, the eternal Word of God as revealed in Scripture and in creation, and the concept of redemptive teaching. A Christian philosophy of education is founded on the biblical truth that all that can be discovered, studied, fathomed, created, adorned, or enjoyed existed first in the mind of God, is sustained by Christ’s power, and is revealed through the Holy Spirit’s presence.

“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church . . . For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.” (Colossians 1:16-18. 2:9-10)

God's Word is the moral authority that informs all of our intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical pursuits. Thus, true education of the person can only occur when all facets are learning (all disciplines) are rooted in and viewed through the lens of God’s Word .
Redemptive teaching means to “teach in a fashion that reflects the character of the creative-redemptive God--that is to teach in accord with God’s creational ordinances and in a way that demonstrates His grace in redemption.”

(Donovan L. Graham in Teaching Redemptively)

Envision the Potential of a Christ-Filled Education

"I would claim that Christian schooling is not about running or hiding from--rather it is about embracing and pursuing the mind of Christ. It is about pursuing the real understanding of what it means to be salt and light, about transformation by the renewing of the mind. It is about the development of fruitful bearers of the image of Christ in a world gone bland with its salt-less-ness; a world staggering in an abundance of darkness where the light has been all but snuffed out.”
Ken Smitherman, President of ACSI

The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) strives to enable and equip Christian educators and schools worldwide to effectively educate children and young people with the mind of Christ. Thus, students will be prepared for life because Christ, the creator and sustainer of the universe, possesses “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). The life and mind of Christ is nurtured in the lives of students through redemptive relationships with faculty who recognize that reconciling the heart and mind to God is the foundation of their work.

To this end ACSI seeks to equip schools for greater effectiveness, year after year. The many programs and services we offer are intended to enrich the teaching of Truth—God’s Word revealed through Scripture as well as through creation. We seek to increase the vision for students’ intellectual development through Christian faculty who model a rigorous Christian mind in their teaching and leading. We believe that schools can increasingly achieve their vibrant mission as their operational practices grow in excellence.

The people of ACSI, in our Colorado Springs headquarters and the eighteen regional offices around the world, are eager to assist educators and schools in guiding their students to reach their full potential in Christ. We desire to provide the tools necessary to rekindle vision, energize practices, and equip educators to achieve this goal.

Upper Room Christian School is an active member of the ACSI.
Grace and Peace,
Ed

New School Year

We are excited about the upcoming school year. While the administration has been working all summer preparing for the new school year our full staff comes back Tuesday the 2nd for three days of inspiration and preparation for our students who return on Friday the 5th.

We have some exciting changes taking place this year. We are launching Grade Speed, an online communication program between our school and the home. Our students and parents will be able to see their progress 24/7 from any computer connected to the Internet and communicate back and forth over a secure intranet hosted by Campusware.

Together with Faith Highway we are launching the schools web page which will be a state of the art way to get information about the school including calendars, forms, and other useful information.

We believe that a good education requires good communication and we are continually striving to enable the best communication between the school and our community.

We are looking forward to another great year of Christian Education here on Long Island as we seek to fulfill God's mandate to train up a child in the way they should go!

Grace and Peace,
Ed

Investments

Luke 12:33&34
Give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matt 6:20&21
Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matt 13:44
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

I want to encourage you and give you an opportunity to sow into what God is doing here through Upper Room Christian School on Long Island, NY.

Students are being inspired to be all they can be in Christ! They are being encouraged that the Lord goes before them and that He is their rear guard! They are being rescued from failing educational systems and environments that hinder their growth and progress! They are being protected and preserved from a world belief system that in many cases directly opposes the teachings of Christ! They are being instructed in excellence and uprightness! They are being raised up and nurtured in the things of God in an atmosphere that proclaims Jesus to be the supreme creator and ruler of the universe and all that's in it!

Over 300 students were promoted this year. 44 sent on to Colleges and Universities. Most from middle class families in struggling neighborhoods and school districts. Some with "Individual Education Plans" that other schools would not or could not service.

If you would like to partner with and invest in what God is doing in and through Upper Room Christian School in the lives of these precious children contact me at 631-242-5359ext.203 or write me at rjonodde@aol.com.

Sow a seed of hope and promise in the life of a child!

Big Ideas to Consider

1. There are basically two kingdoms: a kingdom of light and a kingdom of darkness. It seems strange to have those who walk in darkness educate children of light. It doesn't fit.

2. If Jesus Christ is Lord, then He is Lord of all. We cannot divide things into secular and sacred.

3. All truth is God's truth, and God's Word sheds light on our path. Only in His light can we see light. Education is not focused on possibilities but on certainties found in God's Word.

4. Deuteronomy 6 tells parents that, in all they do, they should provide a godly education 24/7.

5. Three key institutions that shape a child are the home, the church and the school. Children are served best when all three institutions point them in the same direction.

6. Only an education that has the liberty to address the whole child -- social, intellectual, emotional, physical AND spiritual -- reaches the possibility of excellence.

7. The best preparation for effective service is to be well grounded in one's mind before direct engagement of the culture.

Grace and peace,
Ed

What Parents Say About Upper Room Christian School #11.

Mrs. Diane Keppel had this to say, " I sent my son to Upper Room Christian School to receive a Christ-centered education and to learn how to incorporate Jesus Christ into his daily living and relationships. My son loves Jesus Christ and he loves everything about Upper Room. He says he would never want to go to public school. Upper Room has been an extended family to him and has helped shape his beliefs and values. The school has been supportive to my child and myself. The teachers are genuinely concerned about my child and they keep in touch with me on a regular basis. I want to thank the Upper Room Christian School for the wonderful experience my son has had growing up with the guidance of the teachers and pastors."

Mrs. Keppel's son is one of this year's graduates and is going on to college in the fall. We will miss him but know that just like most of our graduates he'll be back whenever he's in the neighborhood to say hello to his extended family at Upper Room.

What Our Graduates Have to Say About Upper Room Christian School.

Christian Education is not just Christian teachers teaching from a Christian point of view with biblically principled values and methods. It also includes a spiritual environment that encourages students to grow in spirit, soul and body.

Conscientious Christian parents want their children to be trained in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, and they want the Christian school experience to aid them with this goal.

As we end our 2007-2008 school year we thank God for our Bishop and Upper Room Christian World Center's elders and congregants for all of their prayerful support. These are a few quotes from some of our graduating seniors.

" I am very grateful to have met such great people." Brian Agard

" Thanks for giving me an opportunity to come to a school I grew to love." Carlos Bolanos

"I'm going to miss Upper Room and my friends." Fedes Casmir Jr.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be in this school. Tawana Charles

"Thanks for helping me see who I am and who I am going to be." Priscilla Claudio

"I am so happy to be a part of this graduating class." Sarah Eck

"Being at this school helped me become a better person and lead me to salvation." Victoria Esteve

"I am left with wonderful memories and I will miss you all and love all of you very much." Jarrett Hansen

Advice From a Founding Father to Our Youth

The command to honor your father and mother comprehends not only due respect and obedience to your parents; but all respect to other superiors. The distinction of age, is one established by God himself, and is perhaps the only difference of rank in society, which is of divine origin. . . . in doing honor to age, you honor a divine command, and secure to yourself a source of permanent consolation.
Noah Webster, 1823, "Letters to a Young Gentleman Commencing His Education"

Honor thy Father and thy Mother-an uncompromising commandment.

Take a deeper look with your children at education and a Biblical worldview and prepare them to protect the liberty we cherish today!

What are Current Employers Looking For?

Employers are looking closely at this new crop of workers. A collegegrad.com survey reported on what employers want most in examining the talent pool of recent grads. It featured 500 top entry-level employers for 2008 and notes the following factors as the criteria that entry-level employers rank as most important:

1. The student’s major (44%)

2. Their interviewing skills (18%)

3. The student’s internship/experience (17%)

4. The college the student graduated from (10%)

5. Other miscellaneous qualifications (5%)

6. The student’s GPA (4%)

7. Their personal appearance (1%)

8. The student’s computer skills (1%)

Didn’t go to MIT or Harvard? Not a problem. According to the survey, factors other than the school you graduated from all count more in employers’ eyes. Regarding that number one factor on the list, your major, which ones are most in demand?

• Mechanical Engineering

• Electrical Engineering

• Accounting

• Business Administration/Management

• Economics/Finance

• Computer Science

• Information Sciences and Systems

• Marketing/Marketing Management

• Computer Engineering

• Chemical Engineering

Is There a Christian Approach to the Content of Education?

The content of education, unlike the specific curriculum, has an implied value. Content rests on an implied value. Let’s see…

In the non-Christian, school there is no absolute or ultimate truth. It is each person’s responsibility to decide their final or overarching truth.

A true Christian education studies all of life in submission to the word of God, the Bible and its precepts, or truths.

When we look at content this way we see a significant difference. God designed us to seek the truth; He declares truth will set us free – from bondage to sin.

The content of education is an aspect that we must seriously consider and pray about.

Partner with Upper Room Christian School a school that begins its content with the truth of the Bible.

Internet Safety: How to Protect Your Child from Cyber Bullying

The rapid rise of cyber bullying -- where children (and sometimes adults) embarrass, harass, threaten or even stalk their victims using the Internet, text messaging and cellphones -- should NOT be taken lightly, say experts. Unlike the classic school yard bully, who shouted insults across the playground or intimidated victims into handing over lunch money, today's cyber bullies don't need to be physically present to do their dirty work. They can reach their "targets"any time and anywhere, using a variety of new communications tools. These tools can reach large "audiences" with emails and postings of digital photos, video and audio designed to humiliate the victim or damage his reputation and relationships.

While bullying takes many forms, common practices include stealing someone's online name and using it to spread nasty rumors and comments; retouching photos to embarrass the victims; or recording conversations secretly and posting them online or attaching the audio files to mass emails.

Although most perpetrators (and victims) are tweens or teens, troubled adults have been known to participate in cyber bullying (although some feel that if adults are involved, it shouldn't be called cyber bullying). In a 2006 incident, the mother of a teenage girl's friend posed as a 16-year-old boy, and established an online "friendship"with the girl. When the "boy" started sending cruel messages, the teen girl (who suffered from depression) committed suicide. In the majority of cases, however, cyber bullying is confined to the adolescent world, where it's become pervasive. And fortunately, suicides are rare, but they do showcase the severity of the problem.

The statistics on cyber bullying are quite surprising and very sobering. According to a 2004 i-SAFE survey of 1,500 students in grades four through eight:

-- 42% of children have been bullied while online.

-- More than one-third of kids have been threatened online.

-- Nearly one-fourth of those surveyed had received at least one threatening email or other type of message.

-- Nearly 60% of children reported getting hurtful communications in the past.

-- BUT 58% of respondents NEVER told their parents about what had happened.

The National Crime Prevention Council claims almost half of all American teens have been exposed to cyber bullying. "Cyber bullying may...indicate a tendency toward more serious behavior," reports the National Cyber Alert System. "While bullying has always been an unfortunate reality, most bullies grow out of it."Cyber bullying has not existed long enough to have solid research, but there is evidence that it may be an early warning for more violent behavior."

What can you do to protect your children? Here are seven recommendations:

1. Because many kids are afraid to talk with parents about the problem -- sometimes fearing they'll lose their Internet or cell privileges -- you should be proactive. Hold a discussion with your kids about the issue of cyber bullies, and lay down simple ground rules for what information they can post in emails and on the Web, and what information should stay private. Tell them to inform you of any threatening, vicious or otherwise suspicious communications. Recognize they may well be reluctant or unwilling to tell you because of peer pressure and/or fear of reprisal. Do your best to get them to communicate with you, and take their concerns about retaliation seriously. Some of the steps below could make the situation worse, so stay sensitive to your children's concerns.

2. Explain to your kids that you expect them to treat others with respect and kindness -- in other words, you won't tolerate THEM becoming bullies. Also stress that they should AVOID responding to threats and hostility with counter-threats and more hostility. Often, this just escalates the situation.

3. After identifying the cyber bully (or bullies), file a formal complaint with the perpetrator's cell phone company or Internet Service Provider.

4. Report cyber bullying to school authorities or law enforcement if cyber bullying includes threats of violence or predatory sexual behavior. Whether the local police will actually act on your complaint depends on their policies and(obviously) the extent of the threatening behavior. School boards, however, often have broader standards in place for putting a quick stop to cyber bullying, so you may want to report problems to them first.

5. Ask your child to save and print any evidence of cyber bullying, including emails, bulletin board postings, instant messages, etc. Be sure that he or she also documents the relevant dates and times of the incidents. If you decide to visit the perpetrator's parents to resolve the problem, arm yourself with proof of the bad behavior, so the matter doesn't turn into "he said/ he said."

6. Most importantly, take your children's complaints seriously. If you notice that your child has recently become withdrawn or morose, or has lost interest in activities she used to enjoy, these may be warning signs that she's being victimized by a cyber bully.

7. Neither you nor your children should put up with cyber bullying, but avoid the temptation to engage in some form of cyber revenge. Past incidents have shown that this only makes matters worse.

What Parents say about Upper Room Christian School #6

Mrs. Wendy Medford said, " I want my child to receive an education in an environment where the love of God is part of the curriculum. The care and love that the teachers show towards my child has made a difference in his education. The student to teacher ratio is smaller, therefore my child is able to get more individualized attention."
Mrs. Medford has a son in Mrs. Claudio's third grade.

We love hearing these reports over and over again! Especially about the care and individualized attention given to each child. God has created each of us and given us a Divine destiny. It is our goal at Upper Room to help our parents achieve the God given mandate to raise up your child in the way they should go with love, great care, concern and understanding.

Are You Building a Solid, Unshakable Foundation for Your Children’s Lives?

Luke 6:49 says, “the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Whether we realize it or not, as parents we are adding to the foundation of our children’s lives every single day. Do we as parents give great attention to the foundation of our children’s lives?

Prov 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

If not you can change that beginning today. Choosing a Christian school can be an excellent way to help ensure that you are building a foundation based on God’s Word.

Upper Room Christian School can help you fulfill the directive we have been assigned as Christian parents.

What are Parents Saying About Upper Room Christian School #5

Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Jones recently said, " We send our son to Upper Room Christian School because it is a safer, more controlled environment. We LOVE the fact that it is a Christian school and that they teach the children the same morals that we were taught as children and that are hard to find today."

"Our son experiences a great music program on a daily basis. That was not available to him in public school. I have always nurtured his musical talents but since he's been in Upper Room I have really seen his talent blossom!"

"The uniforms provide a non existant need to fight because someone is dressed better than someone else. There are no metal detectors and no security guards. It's safe!"

The Jones' son is in 8th Grade.

Spring Concert of the Arts

We had our Concert of the Arts yesterday from 11am until 1pm. It really was awesome! Each segment was well rehearsed and strategically placed to build to several standing ovations! Poems, songs, dance, mime and drama were all represented by students from 3-18 years old.

Performed once a year during the spring season the show celebrates the gifting and anointing in and on these children. From originals to re-scored covers, each segment built upon the last. With over 250 people in attendance the atmosphere was electric.

Thanks to the over 30 staff members and volunteers who helped make this year's show the best so far!

Grace and Peace,
Ed
